Alberta

  • Alberta students can get the HPV vaccine (GARDASIL®9) in Grade 5 (or in Grade 9 if they did not receive it in Grade 5)
  • Children who were offered HPV vaccine in Grade 5 or 9 and did not get it are eligible for free HPV vaccine until the end of Grade 12
  • Some adults 26 years of age and younger with certain health conditions may be offered the vaccine

British Columbia

  • The HPV vaccine (GARDASIL®9) is provided free to girls and boys in Grade 6
  • The HPV vaccine is also provided free to:
    • Girls born in 1994 or later who were not immunized in the school-based program, or did not complete their vaccine series (eligible up to age 26)
    • HIV positive individuals 9-26 years of age
    • Transgender individuals 9-26 years of age
    • Men 9 to 26 years of age who:
      • – have sex with other men
      • – are not yet sexually active but are questioning their sexual orientation
      • – are street involved
    • Boys 9 to 18 years of age in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD)
    • Boys and men of any age who are in youth custody services centres

Manitoba

  • Healthy females born on or after January 1st, 1997 are eligible to receive the HPV vaccine (GARDASIL®)*, routinely provided in school-based programs in Grade 6
  • Healthy males born on or after January 1, 2002 are eligible for school-based programs in Grade 6 as well as in Grade 8 or 9 (3 year catch-up program)
  • Immunocompetent HIV-infected and/or immunocompromised females (born during or after 1997) and males (born during or after 2002) are eligible

New Brunswick

  • The HPV vaccine (GARDASIL®)* is offered free of charge to girls and boys in Grade 7

Newfoundland and Labrador

  • The HPV vaccine (GARDASIL®)* is offered to girls and boys in Grade 6

Northwest Territories

  • The HPV vaccine is available free of charge to all residents between the ages of 9 and 26

Nova Scotia

  • The HPV vaccine (GARDASIL®)* is offered to girls and boys in Grade 7
  • Females and males who did not receive the HPV vaccine as part of the school-based program can receive it up to and including age 18

Nunavut

  • The HPV vaccine is offered to girls and boys in Grade 6

Ontario

  • Ontario students can get the HPV vaccine (GARDASIL®9) free of charge in Grade 7
  • High-risk HPV Immunization Program:
    • Men who have sex with men (MSM) who are 26 years of age or younger who identify as gay, bisexual, as well as some individuals who identify as trans, and who have not started their HPV vaccine series before September 5, 2017.

Prince Edward Island

  • The HPV vaccine (GARDASIL®)* is offered to girls and boys in Grade 6

Quebec

Children in Grade 4

The vaccines (GARDASIL® or GARDASIL®9)* against HPV infections are included in The Québec Immunisation Program’s immunization schedule. The vaccine is offered for free to girls and boys in Grade 4.

 

The following people can also be vaccinated against HPV infections free of charge:

  • Girls aged 9 to 17
  • People aged 26 or under who:
    • Have a weakened immune system
    • Are infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
  • Men aged 26 or under who have or plan to have sex with men

Saskatchewan

  • HPV vaccine (GARDASIL®)* is provided free to girls in Grade 6
  • Females born since January 1, 1996 who missed getting the HPV4 vaccine in Grade 6 can get it for free by making an appointment at the local health center

Yukon

HPV vaccines (GARDASIL® or GARDASIL®9)*  are recommended and provided free to:

  • Girls and boys in grade 6 school year
  • Girls age 9-14 years initiating series prior to their 15th birthday outside of the school-based program
  • Girls 15 to 18 years of age at time of first dose
  • Males at high risk: men who have sex with men, who are street involved or who are HIV positive
